The owners of award-winning landscape gardening business Landscape Brothers, who celebrated their tenth anniversary in 2018, have praised Business Gateway Fife for their long-term support.
The Kirkcaldy-based business, which was set up in 2008 by brothers Arthur and Simon Krolczyk, was initially called Arthur and Simon Garden Maintenance. In the past decade, it has evolved from a small start-up to an established business that provides complex services from conceptual design through to landscape construction and aftercare programmes.
The businesses has grown to ten employees, including younger brother Matt who joined in 2011, and works with many specialised subcontractors.
After moving from Poland, the brothers approached Business Gateway Fife to help them become familiar with the process of setting up a business in Scotland and learn more about different funding opportunities that were available to them. In addition to one-to-one business support from a business adviser, Business Gateway introduced the Landscape Gardeners to the Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust (PSYBT) scheme, securing a £4,000 business development loan. Over the last ten years, they have continued to access a range of Business Gateway support including advice on funding, HR and marketing.
Owner Simon Krolczyk said, “Business Gateway has been a critical partner for Landscape Brothers as the business has expanded and met our ambitious growth goals over the last ten years.
“As the Landscape Brothers has developed, Business Gateway has continued to give us professional, practical advice around hiring practices, employee management and staff training which has enabled our growth and helped us to provide new services for our clients.”
Catherine Bartle, business adviser at Business Gateway Fife said, “It can be daunting to get up to speed with a different regulatory environment if your goal is to set up a business somewhere new. This is where Business Gateway can support in a variety of ways, as we can take clients through each step, and signpost them to helpful and relevant contacts which will allow for the successful and long-term growth of their business.”
