A butcher has become the 100th enterprise to benefit from a funding campaign that has invested over £200k to help revitalise and support businesses based on Fife’s High Streets.

Leuchars Quality Meats, which has a shop in Leuchars and another in Newport, has received £4.5k from the Town Centre Business Support Fund administered by Business Gateway Fife on behalf of Fife Council’s Town Centre Development Unit.

Based in Buchan House at Carnegie Campus, Dunfermline for last five years, the family business is led by Bill Marr, Co-founder and MD, who has spent many years in the electronics industry and has devoted many of those years to developing the Sonis sound signature technology.  In fact, he spent many hours measuring and recording changes to air pressure and movement in his own caravan to develop an appropriate library of sound signatures for the first Sonis alarm system.

Fife-based AJS Production Ltd has increased its turnover significantly after seeing its order book overflow.

The structural fabrication company, set up by Raymond Imrie and Andrew Skocz in June 2013, has been making waves in the renewable energy sector after it secured a major contract with a large renewable energy developers last December.

After successfully fabricating subsea structures for three of the company’s tidal energy converter units, the company then awarded AJS the contract to supply three nacelles, intricate and crucial elements of the complete turbines.
