Fife Farmers Market Win National Award

Fife Farmers’Market were honoured at the annual Scottish Independent Retail Awards recently held in Glasgow.  Fife Farmers’ Market won its category – Farmers Market of the Year.  Barbara Wardlaw, market coordinator and secretary, said they were up against six other markets across Scotland. 

She said: “We were absolutely thrilled to receive the award.  It was the public who voted for us in the first instance and it is great to know our customers are rooting for us”.

BID St Andrews appoints BID Manager to “dream job”

BID St Andrews’ has appointed its BID Manager to what she describes as her “dream job.”

Rhonda McCrimmon (36) started her new role yesterday and will be responsible to the BID St Andrews Board and levy-payers for both the day-to-day management of the BID as well as the smooth running of its strategic projects.

The first key appointment by BID St Andrews since the elected Board took over in January, Rhonda will work together with the Board and other town agencies to deliver the projects and services set out in the BID Business Plan as well as be the main point of contact.

All-Energy 2016 provided an opportunity for a delegation of Fife companies to showcase the region’s long tradition of excellence in engineering and manufacturing.

Fife Council Economic Development Team’s Market Development Programme supported 15 Fife organisations to visit Glasgow in May, as part of its delegation to the UK’s largest renewable energy event, All-Energy 2016.

Low Carbon Skills Fund - Now Open

Applications for Low Carbon Skills Funding for the financial year 2016/17 are now open.

The Low Carbon Skills Fund gives Scottish businesses with under 100 employees the opportunity to apply for up to £5000 towards employee training costs in areas such as renewable energy and low-carbon technologies, energy efficiency, waste management and reuse, and reducing carbon in supply and energy management.

Leuchars support

Leuchars Air Base Personnel Transition Evaluation Report

Further to the Ministry of Defence’s decision to close the Leuchars RAF Base which finally ceased to be an RAF Station on 31 March 2015 and transfer control of the site to the Army, the change of personnel has been felt by the local community.

To help understand the impact felt by local businesses, the Business Gateway Fife, on behalf of Fife Economic Development, comissioned an evaluation of the impact that the transition has had.

Interested in hosting a partially funded intern from St Andrews

The University of St Andrews is currently working with the Santander Universities SME Internship Programme to create internships and work placements within SMEs for promising students. These programs allow deserving students to gain work experience and learn valuable skills, while giving smaller businesses the chance to work with recent graduates and current students, offsetting their costs in the meantime.
