Free Post-Budget Seminars for Local Businesses

EQ Accountants LLP will host their annual Post-Budget Analysis Seminars in Dundee, Fife and Angus next month.
 
Four free seminars will be held on Monday 13 March 2017, after Philip Hammond, Chancellor of the Exchequer delivers the last Spring Budget on Wednesday 8 March 2017.
 
As well as networking opportunities, refreshments and a light buffet will be provided.
 
The first will be held at Rothes Halls, Glenrothes, with breakfast from 8am and the presentation at 8.30am.

Fife Company's Budget Analysis Event Turns 20

A prominent business event celebrates a special anniversary this year, thanks to the loyal support of Fife’s business community.  Thomson Cooper will be hosting their twentieth Budget Analysis at the Carnegie Conference Centre in Dunfermline on Friday 10th March, the longest running event of its kind in Fife. The seminar is free and features a workshop on pension auto-enrolment and a networking lunch.

The results of a Westminster Government review of the employment tribunal fee regime have been published. In essence, the conclusion is that, although it is accepted that fees have discouraged people from bringing claims, “there is no conclusive evidence that they have been prevented from doing so”.

TAX-FREE CHILDCARE SCHEME

At present employers choosing to do so can make available to their employees the Childcare Voucher Scheme (also known as Employer Supported Childcare). Put simply, those employers provide childcare vouchers to eligible working parents of children up to age 15 (or 16 if disabled) which are then spent with regulated childcare providers, directly contracted childcare or a workplace nursery. The employer administers the payments in the form of “salary sacrifice”.

Scottish EDGE Round 10 opens, offering funding of up to £150,000

Scottish EDGE is today, Wednesday 1st February, launching its next competition round. Applications to Scottish EDGE Round Ten will be accepted through the competition website until 8th March, 2017 at 2pm, requiring an application form and a short video pitch. All applications will then be assessed by a number of independent, expert panels before being shortlisted to participate in a Scottish EDGE semi-final or the final of our subsidiary competition categories, namely Higgs EDGE, Young EDGE or Wild Card EDGE.

Scottish SME inspires over 1 million young people

Dunfermline, Scotland – On 24th January the Scottish SME Tree of Knowledge are celebrating huge milestone in the company history – 1 million of Scotland's young people will have attended a Tree of Knowledge workshop since the company was founded in 2001.


Tree of Knowledge currently provide tailored motivational workshops and employability programmes to 25% of Scottish schools, including work around Developing Scotland’s Young Workforce and The Scottish Attainment Challenge.

Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2017

The countdown is on!

 Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2017 – from 6 to 10 March – will show that apprenticeships work for businesses, individuals and the Scottish economy.

 

Organised by Skills Development Scotland (SDS), the campaign highlights the commitment of businesses who have decided to invest in the skills of their workforce.

 It also showcases the successes of apprentices who have chosen to get a job, get paid and get qualified to develop their careers.
