Fife Joinery Manufacturing, Business Open Day—Thursday 22nd January, 2015

As the result of a strategic review of its manufacturing and logistics functions across Europe, the VELUX Group, manufacturer of energy-efficient roof windows and skylights to the world market, announced the closure of its Glenrothes operations (Fife Joinery Manufacturing) over the next 12 months.  Unfortunately, this will result in the loss of approximately 180 manufacturing and distribution jobs.

Wednesday 10th December 2014, Dalgety Bay start-up Lobster Pod Ltd was given a huge financial boost last night, winning £100,000 at the ScotEdge awards. The awards are given to the new Scottish businesses which were best able to demonstrate their ability to grow and bring valuable turnover and jobs into the Scottish economy. Business Gateway Fife client Lobster Pod Ltd is an innovative live shellfish transportation system.

Twenty of Fife’s young entrepreneurs will take over the Old Kirk in Kirkcaldy on 20th February to showcase their companies to the business community.  Aged between 21 and 33 the entrepreneurs are running businesses in a range of sectors including traditional trades, creative and professional services. They hope that by inviting the business community to come and see for themselves the quality and diversity of what they are doing they can forge useful business connections.
