Event to teach NE Fife firms how to avoid risk of €20m GDPR fines

People doing business in North-East Fife are being invited to a November 22 event where they can learn how to ensure they don’t incur fines of up to €20 million or more when the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force next May.

In the first learning lunch of St Andrews Business Club’s new season, the joint event with Fife Women in Business will hear information law expert Loretta Maxfield of Thorntons LLP explain what GDPR is, how it will affect businesses, what they need to do to ensure compliance and the penalties if they don’t.

VELUX® launches pioneering programme to support staff mental wellbeing

One of Fife’s leading employers, VELUX, is today launching a pioneering service to support the company’s goal of creating a more open culture around mental health in the workplace.

The Mental Wellbeing Support Team (MWST) will provide a listening and support service for its UK and Irish employees who are experiencing mental health issues or simply need someone to talk to.

The Prince’s Trust pops up in Dunfermline’s Kingsgate

FIFE’s new businesses who have graduated through the Prince’s Trust Enterprise Programme are being given a fantastic opportunity to set up shop in the Kingsgate for two weeks before Christmas.

From Tuesday 21 November to Saturday 2 December, shoppers can visit the Prince’s Trust supported businesses in a unit situated directly across from Marks & Spencer’s store.

Marissa Yassen, Princes Trust Senior Enterprise Executive received the keys from Kingsgate manager, Neil Mackie ahead of the opening on Tuesday 21 November.
