Swann-Morton to deploy Cooper Software’s ACQUIRE™ to streamline ‘Goods In’ process, leading to improved business operations and increased efficiency.
Cooper Software, is delighted to announce that Sheffield based surgical blade, scalpel and handle manufacturer Swann-Morton, has chosen to implement the market-leading ACQUIRE™ data capture solution within their warehousing and manufacturing operations.
Developed in-house by Cooper Software, ACQUIRE™ is a mobile data capture, barcoding and RF system which allows for the automation of receipt, inspection, packing and all other aspects of warehousing and shop floor operations. ACQUIRE™ integrates seamlessly with a number of ERP solutions, including IFS.
Exporting their products to over 100 countries and working with an extensive network of overseas distributors, Swann-Morton are world leaders in their field. The company is respected globally for quality, precision, consistency and reliability and are known for combining traditional blade making skills with the latest technology. The company, which still operates from its Sheffield head office where it was founded in 1932, is part owned by employees and as a charitable cause.
Having recently upgraded to IFS Applications 9, Swann-Morton are seeking to maximise their investment by incorporating new technology in to their existing business processes to further improve efficiency. The first area of the business to be addressed is the warehouse function, particularly around the internal distribution of materials. To improve operations within this area, Swann-Morton will implement the latest ACQIURE™platform, which will run on Android devices.
By configuring areas of IFS and implementing a series of ACQUIRE™ transactions relating to the receipt of raw materials, movement between sites, issuing of material to the production and subsequent usage in manufacturing, the ACQUIRE™ platform will enable Swann-Morton’s warehouse and manufacturing departments to immediately operate more effectively and efficiently. The solution will allow the in-line capture of the required process data to provide management with essential information around the tracking of inventory, material usage and waste of raw material. The solution will also provide the key batch traceability that is required by the quality department to meet industry regulations. The implementation of ACQUIRE™ will lead to greater efficiency for the business by reducing or eliminating many of the company’s current manual, paper based processes.
Mike Hirst, Finance Director at Swann-Morton noted: “Having recently attended Cooper Software’s ACQUIRE™ Day, we were hugely impressed with the technology and this was further strengthened after hearing presentations given by current users regarding their positive experiences with the solution. We have been impressed with the high standards and professional approach Cooper Software’s have displayed when scoping and specifying the project and look forward to working together to install ACQUIRE™ within our IFS system.”
Frank Cooper, Managing Director of Cooper Software commented: “We are delighted to be working with such a world renowned company as Swann-Morton to deliver this project. The introduction of ACQUIRE™ will help the business to embrace and incorporate the latest technology, enabling the smooth running of their data capture processes, whilst at the same time, ensuring the quality and precision which Swann-Morton are synonymous with.”
