Tycoon Teens, Inspiring Fife

Thursday 5 February 2015

Entrepreneurs of the future were showcasing their ideas at an event in front of business leaders from across Fife this week.

Tycoon Teens, Inspiring Fife is a new pilot open to all S5 / 6 pupils across Fife who have an innovative idea and need some support to develop both that idea and their own personal skills.

Four finalists from Glenrothes, Glenwood and St Columbas High Schools pitched their idea in a Dragon’s Den style event, with the winning team coming from Glenrothes High School.

All four finalists brought innovate and creative ideas which all have the potential to be successful businesses.
The team of Jordan Forbes, Steven Nicol and Danny Seath have created an innovative idea for highlighters and have won the support of a business mentor to guide them as they take their idea forward.

Richard Dixon, Entrepreneurship Champion for Fife Economy Partnership said: “I have been amazed at the depth of thought, creativity and confidence all of our finalists showed last night.  It is inspiring to know we have such a great talent in Fife and all of them have proved they have the passion to be business leaders in the future.  We are committed to supporting all of them in developing their skills and ideas further.”

Sean Kennedy, Director of K2 Marketing added: “Although there had to be one winner tonight, all finalists spoke with passion and confidence about their idea and all of the concepts have a winning formula with them.  Congratulations to all of them, but especially Jordan, Steven and Danny.”

Depute council leader Councillor Lesley Laird, spokesperson for Economy and Planning added: “This exciting challenge gives young people a chance to show off their talents and further develops links between our schools and our local business community. We know the potential business leaders of the future could be sitting in classrooms across the Kingdom and we’re determined to find and nurture that talent.”
