FIFE-based Sidon Water has the specialist technology to help eliminate many of the difficult and costly problems caused by scale and corrosion to commercial businesses, including agriculture and hospitality industries. A trial with a large hotel chain has proved just that, as has working with a Kent-based fruit farmer - the technology has saved it five per cent of its yield, which it was losing annually. In addition, the Integro™ has been trialled and vetted by LTC Worldwide, a specialist consultancy for the laundry services industry, creating a massive opportunity.
Established just two years ago in the UK by Chris Rose, the business is very much in its infancy, but having made these breakthroughs in key industries, Sidon Water is very much focused on hitting the ground running as key sectors start to reopen post lockdown.
As a client of Business Gateway Fife, Chris Rose talked about the help that that he has received in terms of accessing business finance and consultancy support, but also his excitement about guiding the business forward. He said:
“I first met Fraser McKee from Business Gateway Fife in 2019, when needing advice on our growth strategy. Fraser took a keen interest and has been instrumental in helping to shape the business and put us in the position we are now.
“We’ve had HR and IP consultancy support, as well as a Digital Boost grant to support our digital strategy, which has seen the launch of our new website, Google adverts set up, and we’re building our online presence, with help from our new digital marketing manager. We are market ready and keen to build our reputation as a small business with a straightforward, yet highly effective technology, that can bring about significant benefits to a wide range of industries.”
Sidon Water was also supported by the Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service (SMAS), which advised on the tender and appointment of a local, Fife-based manufacturer. Normand and Thomson manufacture and distribute Sidon Water’s Integro™ products from its base in Dalgety Bay.
Chris concluded: “With successful trials under our belt, we have the potential to expand and deliver our technology across the UK, Europe as well as to the Middle East. All of that will be delivered from Fife. Economically, it’s fantastic news for Fife!”
Business Gateway Fife’s adviser, Fraser McKee commented: “Chris and his team have designed a great product that will make massive savings to businesses across many industry sectors. In addition to providing HR and IP specialist support, we were able to connect them with High Growth Venture Support through Scottish Enterprise, enabling them to ramp up production and further development.”
