Pratis Barns Continues To Expand Its Business

Monday 25 April 2022

Since taking over wedding and events venue, Pratis Barns, near Leven in Fife in 2019, husband and wife team, Patrick and Nicola Gilmour, have continued to develop the business and increase the bespoke offering to its clients.  Pratis Barns is one of Fife’s finest examples of a traditional covered cattle court, built in the late 1700s and Grade B listed. The six bay barns form the heart of the venue for a reception and party, with endless options of spaces to style. There is also a ceremony barn, walled garden and 30 acres of grounds to create a perfect event. Co-owner, Patrick Gilmour said, “Following the purchase of Pratis House, located next to the Barns, we fully renovated and restored the building to its former glory. The stunning house now comes as part of the wedding hire at Pratis Barns, but it can be rented as a stand-alone self-catered property, sleeping 15 people across seven rooms, including a suite and wet room. It is our continued goal to provide the finest quality wedding and event venue package in a beautiful, unique location with award-winning dining.” He added. “During the pandemic, we had to think outside the box, to make sure there was a way we could still make Pratis Barns work.  We had an idea to create a drive-in cinema, set up in the grounds during the lockdown and it proved very popular. It was important that we remained open for business.  However, it is wonderful to be back doing what we do best, fulfilling the dreams of our guests. We are also opposite Montrave House on the Montrave Estate, where up to 50 guests can be accommodated.”  For the last few years, Business Adviser, Alasdair Busby from Business Gateway Fife has provided them with valuable advice and support.  He commented, “Patrick is already a well-known, award-winning private chef and event caterer and Nicola’s event management skills are second to none. Their vision for Pratis Barns is already reaping rewards with its excellent reputation going from strength to strength and the addition of the stunning Pratis House shows their commitment to providing the best of everything for guests.  I was able to help them with Digital Boost support for their social media strategy and Expert Help for PR and Communications, along with access to financial support for their innovative and popular Drive-in cinema during Lockdown. They have put Pratis Barns firmly on the map as a high quality, unique wedding and event venue in a beautiful countryside location and I know they will continue to develop and thrive.” Whether thinking of starting a business or looking to grow or sustain an existing business, contact Business Gateway Fife on 01592 858333 for a variety of advice and support or visit www.businessgatewayfife.com
