New Apprenticeship Resource Packs for Employers

Thursday 27 May 2021

With young people disproportionately affected by the impact of the pandemic and fewer employers developing their workforce through apprenticeships, it has never been more important to provide the right support at the right time.

Apprenticeships directly support the Scottish Government’s Young Person’s Guarantee, providing thousands of opportunities every year. By supporting employers, Skills Development Scotland is helping create more opportunities for young people.

As well as SDS’s existing apprenticeship support for employers, new guidance has been developed to ensure businesses can make the most of apprenticeships.  Colleagues from national training programmes, and critical skills and occupations have developed resources for employers which are available below and on

The practical guides are aimed at any member of staff who is likely to be involved in recruiting and training an apprentice.  They map key aspects of building a successful apprenticeship programme – ranging from recruitment to training, so that the journey is a rewarding and beneficial experience for everyone involved.  There is an online resource available for employers delivering each type of apprenticeship: Foundation Apprenticeships, Modern Apprenticeships and Graduate Apprenticeships.
