The Bay Hotel at Kinghorn is celebrating being awarded a prestigious Taste Our Best Award for the quality of its food served in the Horizons restaurant, and throughout the business.
Taste Our Best is Visit Scotland’s leading accreditation scheme for businesses which serve up locally sourced, high quality, food and drink.
The Bay Hotel already works with a range of local suppliers in Fife, including Stuarts Bakery of Buckhaven, David Lowrie Fish Merchants of Pittenweem, and the iconic Fisher & Donaldson in St Andrews. It recently introduced a range of very low gluten dishes, and has increased choice in its vegetarian options.
Being a Visit Scotland Taste Our Best business means that the Bay Hotel is now officially recognised for its food offering, becoming one of around 1000 Scottish businesses to have earned this award.
Said Tommy Wallace, one of the trio of business owners at the family run Hotel: “We are delighted to have achieved this award. I would like to thank our hard working kitchen team, headed up by Head Chef James McKay. Across the business, as a busy hotel, a leisure centre, and a venue for weddings and events, we are catering for many different groups of people, so consistency and choice are key.”
“Enjoying the food is a huge part of our offering here, to complement the stunning iconic views we have from Horizons across the Firth of Forth,” he added.
Mr Wallace explained that along with steadily increasing the range of local suppliers the business was working with, the development of the very low gluten dishes had been a priority in 2018. “James has done a fantastic job. These dishes, which include favourites such as burgers, don’t compromise on taste, so that diners with allergies and other issues can still enjoy them,” he said.
He finished by saying: “Food and Drink excellence is a huge buzzword in the Scottish hospitality industry at the moment, with Fife’s natural larder one of the very best. We are very proud to be a part of this drive to maintain the highest possible standards.”
