All change – but business as usual!

The Board of Sign Plus Ltd, Fifes award-winning Sign Design, Installation and Maintenance company based in Dalgety Bay and employing some 34 staff has announced that, following an approach, their majority shareholding in the company has been acquired by Rymack Sign Solutions Ltd of Manchester, part of the PFI Group. The deal was concluded last week after a period of negotiation and officially announced to staff yesterday (Wednesday 19th April).

Norrie Taylor and Jim Mitchinson, the founding Directors of Sign Plus which was formed in 1992 will remain in their current non-executive roles for a period of 6 months whilst current executive Chairman Ken Richards and Managing Director James Barbour along with all other staff continue in post. PFI Group CEO Darren McMurray joins the Sign Plus Board.

Commenting on the news Ken Richards said he looked forward to an exciting future for the company but emphasised that as far as our customers are concerned it is very much a case of business as usual with no change to personnel, name, location or company registration number - the only real change being who is holding the share certificates. He also said that “companies in the PFI Group had partnered Sign Plus on various projects in the past and were a “good-fit” for us in adding to fabrication and advanced printing capabilities of our supply chain which, following the deal, effectively widens the Sign Plus “in-house” product offer to our client base”. Staffing numbers within the enlarged group will now total 85 across its UK sites.Darren McMurray added "We are delighted to welcome Sign Plus Ltd, together with its superb team, as the newest member of the PFI Group. The acquisition of Sign Plus will add significantly to our group turnover, whilst also increasing our overall manufacturing capabilities, enhancing our nationwide coverage and therefore further strengthening our position in the market. Crucially, PFI Group will now have a presence in Scotland, which up to this point has been an untapped area”.

With a stated purpose to manage their customers signage requirements Sign Plus Ltd designs, manufactures, installs and maintains signs, sign systems and associated products. It serves a large number of customers principally across the central belt of Scotland. These customers include major plc’s, Universities and Colleges, Hospitals, Sports Stadia, Local Government, Manufacturing industry as well as many smaller businesses and organisations. One very important market that the company majors in is the Defence sector under long term contacts with the MoD and via companies such as BAE Systems and Babcock International.
