Business Gateway Fife is getting Fife businesses growing with a proactive strategy which is looking to inspire the future entrepreneurs, support new businesses and re-energise existing businesses.

The move follows a number of changes at Business Gateway Fife which has seen Councillor Lesley Laird being appointed to the Board of Directors, a new Operations Director to head up the organisation, plus key new business advisers adding their expertise to the team.

Councillor Lesley Laird brings her own expertise to the Board of Business Gateway Fife, ensuring the organisation has the important political support it requires as well as advising on the future strategy.

Councillor Laird, commented, “I am delighted to be joining Business Gateway Fife and looking forward to playing my role in encouraging those individuals who are looking to start out on the exciting road of business. Business Gateway Fife's invaluable work with existing SMEs at the very core of our economy has never been more important as we look to developing jobs and wealth for the people of Fife.”

She continued, “Business Gateway Fife plays a pivotal role in the Fife Economy and delivering Fife Council’s economic objectives and we are looking forward to building upon Fife’s enviable reputation as an area of innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship.”

Douglas McLoughlan joined Business Gateway Fife in March of this year as Operations Director and has already had a major impact on the organisation, with several new advisers coming on board as well as developing relationships with other key influencers and looking at new funding and support services.

Douglas explained, “My number one role is to return the focus of Business Gateway Fife back to what it does best – providing a first class support and advice service to entrepreneurs at all stages in business from start-ups to mature companies.”

He continued, “We are not just sitting back and waiting on businesses coming to us. We are proactively looking for businesses to support. We are re-engaging with the key business influencers in the area to try to support their clients and we are looking at new and innovative ways to deliver our service.”
