With over 40 years’ journalism experience between them, husband and wife team, Paul and Moira Robertson, dreamed of launching their own communications business for some time. The perfect opportunity arose late last year when their former employer, Radio Forth, underwent a period of restructuring, which meant they were able to take redundancy.

Robertson Media (www.robertson-media.com) began trading in May, with advice and support from Business Gateway.

“We both loved our jobs but had worked in the same industry for so long that it was time for a change, plus getting up at 4am every morning was beginning to take its toll,” said Paul.

Paul is former Head of News and Sport at Radio Forth, while Moira was Programme Producer at the station for over a decade. Between them they have amassed an impressive list of contacts and skills, perfectly suited to the world of public relations and media training.

“We just love the flexibility of running our own business, especially as we have two children,” continued Paul. “The whole experience has been life changing and, while it can be scary at times, it’s also really rewarding. For now we’re focused on building a strong client base and a stable business.”
