Strong Growth Results From Business Gateway Support

An innovative Fife company, My Golf Ranking, recently sought the support of Business Gateway Fife and not only benefited from being sign posted to available funding but also received a host of other support services to help build it’s online platform for golfers worldwide.

MyGolfRanking is the only online ranking system for golf clubs and golfers to rank performance. Having started off with 7000 subscribers in 2012, the website now boasts 245,000 members in the accurate ranking system. 

The brainchild of David Moir, a former President of the Scottish Golf Union and designer of The R&A/USGA World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), MyGolfRanking is going from strength to strength. 

Behind the scenes, the website is being transferred to its own dedicated server to better position MyGolfRanking’s expansion. To enable this, David and business partner, Mario De Angelis, successfully applied to the Fife Investment Fund through Business Gateway Fife, for grant assistance and an interest free loan. 

David Moir said: 

“MyGolfRanking has come a long way, and grows daily with new subscribers. Whilst we’ve had some challenges, particularly with developing the platform, we’re overcoming those to build a secure website to grow the business. 

“With support from Business Gateway Fife, we’ve been exploring the possibility of franchising; protecting our IP; and accessing funding, to support our growth. The help has been invaluable and has given us the confidence to take the next step.”

MyGolfRanking is also designing an app, to attract itinerant non-handicap golfers, who are not members of a traditional golf club, to MGR Golf Club, which is driven through the website. Until these golfers join or re-join a traditional club, MGR Golf Club will provide them with the same social and competitive environment at minimal cost.
