Celebrating its 35th year manufacturing in Glenrothes, CoorsTek continues to make a positive contribution to the Fife economy. Employing 65 people, from its Southfield Industrial Estate base, it supplies a range of industries to almost every country in Europe.

Since 1981, CoorsTek’s Glenrothes facility has been creating amazing technical ceramics for the European market. It was established with the primary aim of taking CoorsTek’s products into Europe.

Since then CoorsTek has expanded its European presence, helping leading companies across Europe to solve difficult challenges using the strengths of technical ceramics – in automotive, electronics, medical, semiconductor, and other technology and manufacturing applications.

To celebrate this milestone, CoorsTek brought together some ‘original’ employees, current employees, business partners and local community officials. Fife’s Provost, Councillor Jim Leishman MBE contributed to the proceedings. He said: "I acknowledge the positive contribution the employees of CoorsTek have made to the Fife economy over these last 35 years, and their dedication and loyalty to the business. I also recognise and commend the company’s leadership for continuing to service Europe from its base here in Glenrothes."

The unrivalled capabilities of the facility, its ability to secure and maintain relationships, and the ongoing investment in its people, is what sets CoorsTek apart. It continues to win new business and this year alone has seen it secure new contracts in the domestic market.

Timothy Coors, Co-CEO of CoorsTek, said: “Being a partner of choice means being responsive, collaborative experts — serving our customers locally.  The Glenrothes team pioneered our manufacturing in Europe, and we are proud of how they continue to live out our true customer focus. We look forward to an exciting future as we partner with customers to innovate amazing solutions to some of the world’s toughest challenges.”

As CoorsTek Glenrothes prepares itself for further growth, it has been engaging with Business Gateway Fife (BGF) to review the market areas it operates in, the key countries it services as well as growth opportunities. A sizeable report, commissioned and funded by BGF, has identified a significant new market opportunity for CoorsTek.

Mark Cameron, CoorsTek Glenrothes’ Plant Manager, said: “We currently have a modest share in this market and have thought for a while that there were opportunities to expand, but knowing where to start has always been a barrier. Business Gateway Fife was instrumental in commissioning this report, analyzing marketing opportunities and helping to identify agents to support market penetration. The growth potential is phenomenal, and a number of new leads have already been identified. Currently, we’re securing our strategy to capitalize on these opportunities in 2017.”

Mark concluded: “As we embark on our 35th year in manufacturing here in Glenrothes, I would like to thank the dedication of my highly enthusiastic team, who are at the foundation of our success. Our commitment to strong relationships has been a constant throughout the last 35 years, and we will continue to drive forward with our collaborative approach to deliver success for our customers and for CoorsTek.”
